Our Songs, Our Stories connects singers of all ages and their families, from all corners of Oakland, Alameda, Richmond, and Berkeley, coming together to share the traditions, songs of diverse cultures of our community, and the power that music represents in our lives to create change. In the words of ED Keri Butkevich: “Our Artistic Director, LaNell Martin, has thoughtfully and responsively programmed a concert which draws from our students’ direct cultural heritages and diversity of experience – creating a forum for celebrating each other and our community through their stories and the songs of their homelands.” WHO: Oakland Youth Chorus WHAT: Our Songs, Our Stories WHEN: Saturday, May 12th, 5 pm WHERE: First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th Street, Oakland TICKETS: $20 adult, $15 senior/student, $10 child PURCHASE: oyc.modvantage.com/events Since 1974, the Oakland Youth Chorus has created harmony and respect for diversity throughout our rapidly changing community.
